The countdown is on as the 6th Edition of the PruRide Cycling Championship gears up to take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the iconic Black Stars Square.

Since its inception, PruRide has established itself as one of Ghana’s most thrilling and prestigious cycling competitions—celebrating endurance, skill, inclusivity, and the passion for cycling. Over the years, the event has crowned five unforgettable champions:

1st Edition: Frank David Akuffo Awuku (Ghana)

2nd Edition: Abdul Rahman (Ghana)

3rd Edition: Lawrence Adjei (Ghana)

4th Edition: Prince Kudufia (Ghana)

5th Edition: John Gabriel Treasure (Nigeria)

Now, the burning question remains: “Who will win the 6th edition?” The stage is set for another historic showdown.

This year’s championship promises even greater excitement, bringing together elite international cyclists, rising young riders, seasoned veterans, persons with disabilities, and cycling enthusiasts. With categories for both Fun Ride and Elite Competition, the 2025 edition will truly embody community, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.

A landmark feature of this year’s PruRide is the introduction of equal prize money for male and female winners, with each elite champion receiving GH¢15,000.00. This bold step towards gender equity was introduced by Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, following a proposal from Mr. Richard Kofi Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, at the official PruRide launch.

In addition, all participants will receive a medal, recognizing their effort, commitment, and role in making the event a success.

Prize Package Highlights for the 6th PruRide:

GH¢15,000.00 each for both Male and Female Elite Winners

Additional fantastic cash prizes, trophies, and medals across categories

Equal recognition for male and female athletes
