Ghana’s U20 head coach, Desmond Ofei, has extended heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support during the ongoing 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Speaking after the Black Satellites’ impressive 1-0 win over reigning champions Senegal on Monday evening, Ofei emphasized that the team draws strength from the support back home.

“We want to thank all the fans and Ghanaians back home. Your support means everything to us — we feel it all the way out here,” the Ghana U20 coach stated in a post-match interview.

The crucial victory, Ghana’s first of the tournament, propelled the Black Satellites to second place in Group C with four points, significantly boosting their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

Ghana had earlier drawn 1-1 with DR Congo in their group opener and now look ahead to their final group stage match against the Central African Republic on Wednesday, May 8.

Coach Ofei is optimistic about the upcoming clash and assured fans of the team’s determination to deliver another strong performance.

“We know the game against the Central African Republic will be difficult. But just like today, we’ll fight, prepare well, and give our best,” he affirmed.

The Black Satellites are chasing a record-extending fifth continental title, having previously won the U20 AFCON in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021.
