Thomas Partey Set to Leave Arsenal as Contract Talks Stall

Ghana international Thomas Teye Partey appears set to leave Arsenal FC, with contract renewal negotiations reportedly hitting a deadlock.

Partey’s current deal with the North London club is due to expire on June 30, 2025, and despite efforts by manager Mikel Arteta to retain the experienced midfielder, talks between the player’s representatives and the club hierarchy have stalled — casting doubt on his future at the Emirates.

Sources indicate that Arteta sees Partey as a vital figure in maintaining midfield depth and stability for the upcoming season. However, with no significant breakthrough in contract discussions, the possibility of Partey exiting the club on a free transfer has become increasingly likely.

The 31-year-old enjoyed his most consistent season since joining Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020, clocking an impressive 52 appearances across all competitions — his highest tally in an Arsenal shirt.

Partey contributed four goals and three assists, playing a critical role in the Gunners’ midfield as they battled for trophies on both domestic and European fronts.

Despite battling injuries in previous seasons, Partey’s durability and form during the 2024/25 campaign reaffirmed his value to the squad.

Multiple sources confirm that Partey currently has several offers on the table, with interest from clubs in Italy, Turkey, and the Middle East. The Ghanaian is said to be assessing his options carefully before making a final decision on his next destination.

He is currently on holiday in Ghana, enjoying the off-season after a demanding campaign in England.
