Tanko Laments Missed Chances and Lack of Composure as Medeama Drop Points at Home
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed disappointment with his team’s inability to break down Bechem United after the two sides settled for a 0-0 draw on Matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Yellow and Mauves dominated large spells of the encounter at the TNA Park on Saturday but failed to convert their territorial advantage into goals. Tanko believes his players rushed key moments in attack, which ultimately cost them the win.
“I think we had most of the ball, but I think the last bite was not there, and they [Bechem United] came to play with all their men behind the ball and then go for the counter, and it worked for them very well,” he said.
He further noted that Medeama’s buildup play lacked the calmness required to unlock Bechem’s deep defensive block.
“I think we didn’t have the patience to finish off our build-ups,” Tanko added.
The draw leaves Medeama in third place on the league table with 22 points. They now turn their attention to a high-profile clash against Asante Kotoko on Sunday in their Matchday 12 fixture—a test that could shape the early title picture for both clubs.
