Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has expressed confidence that Ghana is edging closer to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars extended their lead at the top of Group I with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Monday night at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco.

This triumph came just days after their dominant 5-0 win against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Reflecting on Ghana’s back-to-back victories, Appiah—who famously captained the Black Stars to their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2006—believes the team is on course to qualify once again.

“With the win yesterday, yes, we are almost there,” Appiah said. “Because when you look at the points, the matches ahead, and the performance our boys have shown, yes, we are almost there.”

Ghana currently sits at the top of Group I with 15 points. The Black Stars will return to action in June, facing Chad and Mali in their next round of qualifiers as they push for a fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.
