Asante Kotoko’s communications officer, Sarfo Duku, has called on the club’s supporters to show massive backing as the Porcupine Warriors gear up for their crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.

Kotoko will host Wydad Athletic Club on Sunday, October 19, at the Accra Sports Stadium, following CAF’s decision not to approve the Baba Yara Stadium for the tie.

Speaking ahead of the game, Duku emphasized the importance of strong home support, expressing hope that a convincing first-leg victory would ease the pressure ahead of the return fixture in Morocco.

“What we will be happy about is Kotoko will get a very good result so that the second leg coming on next week Friday will not be so difficult for us. So that Kotoko will be able to enter the money zone that is where the big boys in the African zone are. When we talk about the big boys, if Kotoko deserves to be there then all the fans should come and support us. So that on Sunday we beat WAC very well to reach the group stage and remind people Kotoko is still among the big boys in African club football,”

The Kumasi-based giants have maintained an unbeaten run since the start of the 2025/26 season and reached this stage after a 5-3 aggregate triumph over Nigeria’s Kwara United. Despite their impressive form, the encounter against the Moroccan side—who boast vast continental experience and recent participation in the FIFA Club World Cup—will undoubtedly pose a significant challenge.

With a place in the lucrative group stage at stake, Sarfo Duku’s rallying call aims to ignite the passionate Kotoko fanbase to create an electrifying atmosphere capable of pushing the Porcupine Warriors toward a crucial first-leg advantage.
