Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has assured fans that the club will be fully prepared for their upcoming 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Ghana Premier League giants have been drawn against Nigerian side Kwara United in the first round of the preliminary stage. The first leg will be hosted at Kotoko’s home ground between September 19 and 21, with the return fixture in Nigeria scheduled for September 26 to 28.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Sarfo Duku cautioned against complacency and stressed the importance of thorough preparations.

Playing in Africa is like going to war, and so you must be prepared to play any side, but on paper, you might think it is a done deal for Asante Kotoko, but it is not so,” he said.

“If you look at Kwara United, who are from a football country, and if they are able to book a spot in the Confederation Cup, it means they have made an investment, so you cannot overlook them like that.

“It is up to Asante Kotoko to ensure they get adequate preparation to avoid any embarrassment. We must focus on Wydad, but the focus must be on Kwara United and ensure we qualify for the next round before thinking about playing Wydad in the second round,” he added.

The winner of the tie will face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the next round of the competition.

Kotoko are currently in Cape Coast for the second phase of their pre-season training and will also participate in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament in Accra later this month.
