Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara has suggested that player selection for the Black Stars should be widened to decrease complacency and increase competition.

The Black Stars of Ghana are currently on the verge of not qualifying for the AFCON 2025 to be staged in Morocco due to poor performances from the players.

The former GFA spokesperson believes some of the current crop of players in the team feel so comfortable and such affects performances and results.

“A lot of players feel too comfortable in the team. A lot of young players that have come into the team have not struggled very much to get into the team. They feel that it is very to get into the team.” He told GHOne TV.

He added that the scope for selecting players for the national team should be expanded to in order to achieve healthy competition within the team.

“I think that we should widen the scope not only into the top leagues in the world but also those at the peripheral of the top leagues. One  example is Bernard Terkpetey. We should re-change the strategy and give more opportunities to some players. It will bring competition into the team.” He added.

Ghana will take on Angola on Friday, November 15, followed by a home game against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, 2024.
