Samuel Takyi sets sights on World title after Olympic success
Ghana’s Samuel Takyi, an Olympic bronze medalist, has announced his intention to become a world champion in professional boxing.
Takyi, who rose to international prominence with his stellar performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, is now focused on his next major goal: securing a world title.
In an exclusive interview on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show, Takyi shared his journey from the Olympics to the professional ranks. “Now, I am a professional boxer, and I’m preparing for a world title. My target is American boxer Keyshawn Davis,” he said.
“After the Olympics, things changed. I received support, equipment, and recognition. That moment really brought me into the light,” he reflected, highlighting the impact of his Olympic win on his career.
However, the path to success has not been without its difficulties. Takyi admitted that he faced challenges after the Olympics, particularly in terms of having the right team behind him.
“I didn’t have a strong team behind me after the Olympics, and that affected me. I went down a bit, but I never quit,” he revealed, emphasizing his resilience and determination.
As he continues to prepare for his professional boxing career, Takyi’s sights are set firmly on the future. His journey, from Olympic bronze to world title aspirations, is an inspiring testament to his grit and ambition.
