RAG Boss Hails Referees’ Performance in Opening GPL Matches
National Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG), George Saijah, has praised referees for their handling of the opening fixtures of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire, Saijah expressed satisfaction with the officiating standards displayed so far, noting that the referees have acquitted themselves well.
“With the two games being played so far in the Ghana Premier League, I will commend the referees for doing a good job. I have watched two games and they are doing well,” Saijah stated.
He however admitted that there were a few decisions that required corrections, stressing that such feedback is essential for continuous improvement.
“However, I have corrected some referees with some decisions they took so that they don’t repeat it going forward,” he explained.
Saijah emphasized that referees are always aware when their performance falls short and must take responsibility for improving their craft.
“As a referee, if you don’t officiate well you will know within yourself after the game. If you do well too you will be happy.” he added.
His remarks come at a time when refereeing standards in Ghana have often been under scrutiny, with clubs and supporters regularly raising concerns over controversial decisions.
Saijah’s assurance of early oversight and correction is expected to boost confidence in officiating for the res
t of the season.
