Prosper Ogum Urges Fans to Forgive Kotoko Players for Missed Chances Against Samartex
Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has called on fans to be patient with his players after they squandered key goal-scoring opportunities in their 1-1 draw against FC Samartex on Saturday.
The Porcupine Warriors traveled to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena for a highly anticipated Ghana Premier League clash against the defending champions. Despite a spirited performance, Kotoko failed to capitalize on several clear-cut chances that could have secured all three points.
Key moments in the game saw Saaka Dauda and Isaac Mintah miss golden opportunities that could have given Kotoko the win.
Reacting after the match, Ogum admitted his disappointment but emphasized that players should be pardoned for their errors in front of goal.
“I’m not happy about [the missed chances]. If you look at the game, it was a tense game, and normally when players become tense, their technique also becomes affected. Even though there were obvious chances, we have to pardon the players,” Ogum said.
The Kotoko coach further reassured supporters that the team is putting in the necessary work to sharpen their finishing and ensure more clinical performances in upcoming matches.
“We will continue working hard to improve on our goal-scoring,” he added.
Despite dropping points, Kotoko remain at the top of the Ghana Premier League table. The Porcupine Warriors will now shift focus to their next fixture, aiming to bounce back with a strong attacking display.
