Prosper Ogum Applauds GFA’s Improved Security Measures at Baba Yara Stadium
Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has praised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for enhancing security at the Baba Yara Stadium during Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Legon Cities.
Ogum commended the significant increase in security personnel, particularly in the tunnel area, which ensured the safety of players, officials, and fans.
“What I saw today is good, it’s good for our game. Everybody was safe within the tunnel, there were a lot of security men in the tunnel,” he said.
The Kotoko coach also stressed the need for these measures to be implemented across all Ghana Premier League venues, emphasizing the importance of safety following the tragic death of supporter Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong at Nsoatre.
“If this can continue and will be the same at all centers, then that would be perfect,” he added.
The Ghana Premier League resumed over the weekend after a temporary suspension in response to Pooley’s tragic passing, which occurred during a violent altercation at a league match in early February. The GFA has since introduced enhanced safety protocols, including increased police presence and stricter security measures at match venues.
