The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially named Swiss coach Nora Häuptle as the head coach of the Zambia Women’s National Team, commonly known as the Copper Queens, on a three-year contract.

Häuptle’s appointment follows her decision not to renew her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), where she previously served as the Black Queens manager.

FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga expressed confidence in Häuptle’s ability to elevate Zambia’s women’s football.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Nora Häuptle as the new Zambia Women National Team coach. We have every reason to believe that she has the pedigree and profile that will take us to the next level,” Kamanga stated.

Häuptle’s primary mandate will be to consolidate the strides made in women’s football in Zambia over recent years. The Copper Queens have achieved remarkable milestones, including:

  • Winning bronze at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
  • Qualifying for their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.
  • Securing back-to-back Olympic qualifications.

FAZ’s focus is on maintaining and advancing this trajectory under Häuptle’s guidance.

Nora Häuptle brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Copper Queens. Known for her tactical acumen and ability to develop teams, she is expected to blend her international experience with Zambia’s burgeoning talent to drive further success on the global stage.
