Oduro’s Spectacular Free-Kick Stuns Kotoko as Hohoe United Claim Historic Win
Hohoe United marked another major milestone in their debut Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Sunday, sealing a landmark result in the maiden league clash between the two sides.
The Hohoe Sports Stadium was electric as the newly promoted side rose to the occasion, feeding off the energy of their supporters to deliver a composed and determined display. Kotoko, meanwhile, never settled into rhythm on the artificial turf, extending their winless run to four matches.
Hohoe United’s persistence paid dividends midway through the first half. In the 24th minute, William Oduro produced a moment of pure quality, stepping over a free-kick and bending it beautifully into the top corner. The strike left goalkeeper Mohammed Camara motionless and sent the home fans into wild celebration.
Kotoko returned from the interval seeking a response, but their attacking efforts lacked conviction. With chances limited and execution in the final third missing, the Porcupine Warriors’ recent struggles only deepened.

The loss leaves Kotoko sitting fifth, five points behind the league leaders, with a testing home assignment against Dreams FC next on the schedule.
For Hohoe United, confidence continues to grow. Consecutive victories have lifted them to 9th place, and they will aim to extend their impressive form when they make the trip to face Berekum Chelsea.
