NSA Reclaims Kaladan Park After Legal Victory, Eyes Redevelopment in Tamale
The National Sports Authority (NSA) has successfully regained full control of the Kaladan Park and its adjoining lands in Tamale following the conclusion of a long-standing legal dispute.
The reclaimed land, which spans an area equivalent to five football fields, marks a major step in the Authority’s strategic vision to rejuvenate sports infrastructure nationwide.
The development was confirmed during a recent working visit to the Northern Region by the newly appointed Director General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah. As part of the visit, Mr. Ankrah met with staff and management at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where he assessed current facilities and outlined plans for future development.
Historically known as the home of Real Tamale United (RTU), Kaladan Park had for years been the subject of encroachment and legal wrangling. The Chief Director of the NSA, Alhaji Abubakar Mahamoud, who was part of the visiting delegation, confirmed that the legal process had ended in favour of the NSA and that plans were already in motion to secure final documentation for the site.
The NSA intends to channel this milestone into meaningful investment, with the broader aim of enhancing grassroots and elite sports infrastructure in northern Ghana.
The move falls in line with the NSA’s broader reform agenda to decentralize sports administration and infrastructure improvement across the country.
