“No Definite Timeline for Daniel Kofi Kyereh’s Return”- SC Freiburg Coach
Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh’s much-anticipated return to competitive football remains uncertain as SC Freiburg coach Julian Schuster confirms the player needs more time to regain full fitness.
Kyereh has been out of action since suffering a cruciate ligament tear nearly two years ago.
Providing an update during a press conference ahead of Freiburg’s clash with Hoffenheim, Schuster emphasized the importance of patience in Kyereh’s recovery.
“Kofi still has a way to go,” Schuster said. “When you’re out for a long time, it’s all about general fitness. His recovery has shown positive signs, but it’s a process that varies for every individual.” He said.
Schuster acknowledged the challenges of predicting Kyereh’s return: “Given the duration of the injury, it’s hard to set a definite timeframe. Our focus is on ensuring he fully recovers before stepping back on the pitch.”
Kyereh joined Freiburg in June 2022 and made an immediate impact, scoring his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz on October 1, 2022. However, his progress was abruptly halted by the severe injury, leaving both club and country missing his contributions.
