Nations FC head coach Kasim Ocansey Mingle has expressed confidence that his side will cope without captain Razak Simpson when they face Basake Holy Stars this weekend in the Ghana Premier League.

The league leaders will be without their dependable defender due to his participation in the Black Stars squad for the 2025 Unity Cup tournament currently underway in the United Kingdom. Simpson is one of four locally-based players invited for the four-nation competition, which includes Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Despite Simpson’s absence, Coach Mingle believes his team is well-prepared and has shown the ability to adapt in his absence throughout the season.

“Simpson’s absence is not going to affect [us]. We have been playing without him on several occasions,” Mingle told the media. “After [the] Hearts of Oak game, he missed a couple of games before returning against Legon Cities last Monday.”

He further emphasized that the team had anticipated Simpson’s potential national team duties and had planned accordingly.
“We knew about his situation, so we’ve always adjusted ourselves to meet the situation. We don’t have any problem,” he added.

Nations FC currently sit at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table after 32 rounds of matches, having amassed 60 points. The Abrankese-based side is closing in on a historic first-ever Premier League title and will be eager to maintain their lead with only two matches left in the season.

Their clash against Basake Holy Stars is expected to be a stern test, but Mingle’s comments reflect a strong belief in the depth and readiness of his squad as they continue their push for domestic glory.
