Nations Football Club has officially responded to the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee ruling concerning their abandoned Matchweek 33 Ghana Premier League fixture against Basake Holy Stars.

The Committee, chaired by Osei Kwadwo Adow, Esq., earlier this week found Nations FC culpable for the abandonment of the game, issuing a fine of GH₵2,500. The ruling apportions GH₵1,250 of the fine to Basake Holy Stars as compensation, with the remaining amount going to the GFA. Additionally, the Abrankese-based side forfeited the match by a 3-0 scoreline under Article 33(1)(b), handing all points and goals to their opponents.

More significantly, the Committee handed Nations FC a three-point deduction from their total tally for the 2024/25 campaign, effectively dropping them from third to fifth place. Originally ending the season with 60 points, the new ruling sees their final total reduced to 57.

Despite expressing disappointment with the verdict, Nations FC has chosen not to appeal the decision. In a statement shared via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, the club reiterated its commitment to integrity and fair play.

“We acknowledge the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, albeit with disappointment. While we disagree with key aspects of the ruling, we have chosen not to pursue an appeal,” the club posted.

“In our game, doing the right thing doesn’t always guarantee the right outcome. But we remain unwavering in our commitment to fairness, safety, and the values this club stands for.”

The decision and subsequent reaction bring to a close a dramatic chapter in what was otherwise a competitive season for Nations FC, who at one point were in contention for their first-ever Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Bibiani GoldStars were crowned champions of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League following a dominant campaign that saw them finish atop the standings.
