The National Sports Authority (NSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to due process and institutional stability following public discussions surrounding the status of seventeen officers within the Authority.

In a press release dated February 25, 2026, the NSA disclosed that constructive engagements had been held with the Honourable Minister responsible for Sports and Recreation to address uncertainties generated by recent commentary on the matter.

According to the statement, the discussions were “cordial, open and solution-oriented,” with all parties expressing a shared commitment to fairness, administrative clarity, and adherence to established public service procedures.

The Authority explained that the affected officers—who have reportedly served for over 11 months without pay—will be required to reapply for their positions in line with laid-down public service recruitment guidelines. With a duly constituted Governing Board now in place, management indicated that the necessary steps would be taken to regularise employment arrangements in accordance with applicable regulations.

Management described the approach as one that reflects respect for governance processes while ensuring fairness, continuity, and recognition of professional service rendered to the Authority.

The NSA also addressed the growing public discourse on the issue, noting that varying interpretations had emerged. It urged stakeholders to rely solely on verified communication from official channels and to refrain from speculation that could undermine confidence in the institution.

The statement emphasised that the Authority remains fully operational and focused on its core mandate.

It further noted that management and the Governing Board, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, will continue to collaborate to strengthen institutional systems and improve operational efficiency.

Additionally, the Honourable Minister indicated that where policy direction becomes necessary to absorb critical staff and resolve personnel shortfalls affecting more than 400 individuals, appropriate consultations will be undertaken with the Ministry of Finance to ensure sustainable and compliant solutions.
