National SHS & Colleges Hockey Championship 2025 Set for November at Theodosia Okoh Stadium
The Ghana Hockey Association (GHA), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), has officially launched the National Senior High Schools and Colleges Hockey Championship 2025, scheduled to take place from 7th to 9th November 2025 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.
Under the theme “Sustaining Our Sport, Building the Next Generation for National Development,” the event aims to unearth and nurture young hockey talents from across the country, promoting unity, discipline, and fitness among Ghanaian youth.
The championship will bring together over 30 Senior High Schools and Colleges from all regions of Ghana, featuring both boys’ and girls’ teams in a fiercely competitive but development-oriented tournament. More than 2,000 spectators—including alumni, parents, and hockey enthusiasts—are expected to grace the three-day event, which will receive extensive media coverage across TV, radio, print, and digital platforms.
In a media brief, officials from the Ghana Hockey Association emphasized that the competition aligns with the GHA’s long-term vision of building a strong foundation for hockey development in Ghana. It also seeks to identify and groom potential athletes for the national teams while promoting discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence through sports.

Among the participating schools are Accra Academy, Achimota School, Adisadel College, Mfantsipim, Opoku Ware, Prempeh College, Presec-Legon, Wesley Girls, Holy Child, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, and St. Louis SHS, among others.
A unique feature of this year’s event is the mentorship program, which will run alongside the championship. Two sessions will be held—
-
Day 1: Building the Student-Athlete: Character, Discipline & Balance
-
Day 2: Beyond the Field: Pathways, Careers & Future Success
These sessions are designed to inspire and equip student-athletes with essential life skills, ensuring that their growth extends beyond the hockey field.
The Ghana Hockey Association reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and national unity through sports, adding that the championship represents a major step in sustaining hockey’s resurgence across schools in Ghana.
The 2025 National SHS & Colleges Hockey Championship promises to be an exciting showcase of skill, teamwork, and future stars
