Mali head coach Tom Saintfeit has admitted he was disappointed after failing to land the Black Stars coaching role but says he respects the decision of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Speaking in an interview with Kobby Stonne on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire, the Belgian tactician revealed he had positive discussions with officials of the GFA and felt strongly about the possibility of leading Ghana.

“If you want something and you don’t get, you will obviously be disappointed. I was disappointed that I didn’t get the Ghana job. I had a good feeling with the people from the Ghana Football Association but I respect their choice,” Saintfeit said.

Saintfeit, who previously coached The Gambia, was among the names considered for the Black Stars role before Otto Addo was eventually reappointed as Ghana’s head coach.

Now leading Mali, the experienced manager is focused on guiding the Eagles to success in both the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
