Madagascar head coach Corentin Martins has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to challenge Ghana’s Black Stars when they face off in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday evening.

With just two points separating the top two teams in Group I, Madagascar is eager to build on their recent victory against the Central African Republic and boost their qualification hopes.

Despite acknowledging Ghana’s strength, Martins insists his team will not be intimidated by the four-time African champions.

“We’re going to play our way. We’re going to try to annoy them [Black Stars] as much as possible,” Martins said.

He admitted that Ghana has an edge in terms of squad quality, noting that “Ghana has great players who play in major European leagues,” but emphasized that “in football, anything is possible.”

Monday’s match at Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco is expected to be fiercely contested, with both teams aiming to seize control of Group I.

Martins is determined to see his side maintain their momentum, stating, “We have to play the same kind of game in order to stand a chance of winning points from Ghana.”

“This game is not decisive on Monday because there are four other games still to be played,” he explained.

With Ghana leading Group I with 12 points and Madagascar close behind on 10, the match will be a key test for both sides.
