Late goal secures point for Samartex against Accra Lions

It was a thrilling match at the University of Ghana sports stadium as Accra Lions drew 1-1 with defending champions FC Samartex.

A stoppage time goal from Benedict Afful was enough to secure a point for Samartex after Accra Lions have gone to score in the first half of the game kind courtesy Abdul-Shakun Abubakari.

The home side, Accra Lions made their intentions clear from the first half. Baba Apiiga and Alladon created goal scoring opportunities in the first ten minutes of the game but Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah was alert to save the balls.

However, Accra Lions found the net in the 43rd minute after a good team play where Abdul Shakun Abubakari connected beautifully with a cross from Fuzy Taylor.

FC Samartex started the second half well in their quest to get an equaliser.  Lord Adabo gave FC Samartex their first shot of the game but it was not enough for them.

In the 92nd minute, Benedict Afful finally restored parity for the Timber Giants after nodding in the ball into the net; denying Accra Lions their second win of the season.

Samartex are now 4th with 14 points while Accra Lions are 14th with 8 points.
