President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and CAF 2nd Vice President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has called for greater respect and recognition for players who have consistently shown commitment to the Black Stars, amid renewed discussions surrounding dual-national players like Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

His comments come in the wake of reports suggesting renewed interest from some foreign-born players in switching allegiance to Ghana following the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Okraku expressed frustration over the persistent focus on players who have previously turned down Ghana, stressing that his administration has made its stance on such matters very clear.

“I think there’s been too much focus on the Nketiah and Odoi issue. I prefer not to comment further on that matter. I have been very clear on the policy direction. It is my responsibility to ensure that Ghana, our beloved country, is respected by everybody,” he stated.

The GFA President reiterated that the current Black Stars squad — made up of players who fought through the qualification stages — deserve the nation’s admiration and support.

“There are players who started for Ghana to get the 25 points out of the 30 points in the World Cup Qualifiers. They deserve respect,” he emphasized.

Okraku further noted that representing the national team should always stem from genuine passion and loyalty, rather than convenience or external pressure.

“If you want to represent Ghana, come with a clean heart,” he added.

Okraku’s message underscores the GFA’s commitment to building a national team founded on dedication, unity, and pride in wearing the Ghanaian jersey.
