Kurt Okraku Hails Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick for “Special” FA Cup Final
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has heaped praise on Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick FC for delivering an enthralling contest in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final played at the University of Ghana Stadium.
In a captivating final that drew nationwide attention, Asante Kotoko edged lower-tier side Golden Kick FC 2-1 to claim their 11th FA Cup title, thanks to a brace from Kwame Opoku, including a controversial late penalty.
Despite the contentious ending, the GFA boss took to social media to express his admiration for the overall quality of the game and the effort shown by both finalists.
“Great final yesterday with all the key ingredients!!! Kudos to the two teams, the MTN FA Cup committee and everyone who made this final a special one!!! Special!!!!” Mr. Okraku posted on Facebook.
Asante Kotoko’s triumph ensures their return to CAF inter-club football, as they earn the right to represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup — a competition they have been absent from for the past three seasons.
