President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has confirmed that a new headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will soon be unveiled, following the abrupt termination of the previous agreement with betPawa.

The GFA boss made the announcement during an interview with GHOne TV, reassuring stakeholders that efforts are far advanced in securing a fresh partnership that will breathe new life into the country’s top-flight competition.

“Ghana Football Association has been working around the clock to get sponsors for the league, and it will come soon,” Okraku disclosed.

The news comes as a timely update for clubs and fans alike, with just three matches remaining in the 2024/25 GPL season. The league has been without a title sponsor since the unexpected end of the betPawa deal, which was originally structured as a three-year partnership with annual renewal clauses.

However, the agreement was terminated barely three months into its execution, causing uncertainty over financial support for clubs and league operations.

Okraku, who also serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), stressed the importance of ensuring financial stability and enhancing the commercial appeal of the league.

The GFA remains optimistic that the incoming sponsorship will not only provide essential funding but also rekindle confidence among clubs, players, and fans, while helping to improve the overall competitiveness and branding of the league.

The new partnership, once announced, is expected to play a pivotal role in the long-term development of Ghanaian football and restore momentum at a crucial juncture of the league season.
