Asante Kotoko secured their place in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in a closely fought semifinal clash at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday.

The game began cautiously, with both sides displaying tactical discipline in a goalless first half. While chances were created at both ends, neither team was able to break the deadlock before the interval.

Kotoko, however, came out stronger in the second half and found the breakthrough when midfielder Albert Amoah latched onto a loose ball and slotted home with composure to give the Porcupine Warriors the lead. The goal proved to be the match-winner, despite late pressure from Berekum Chelsea.

Berekum Chelsea, coached by former Hearts of Oak boss Samuel Boadu, saw their impressive cup run come to an end. The Blues pushed for an equalizer in the final moments but were unable to breach Kotoko’s solid defensive line.

The result marks a major milestone for Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito, who is now within reach of claiming his first major trophy since taking charge of the club.

Asante Kotoko will now face Division One side Golden Kick SC in the final, setting up an opportunity for the Reds to not only clinch silverware but also book a return to continental competition next season.
