Kofi Adams Rallies Support for Women’s Football Ahead of National Festival
Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddi Adams, has called on all stakeholders to unite in advancing women’s football in Ghana, as the country gears up for the highly anticipated Women’s Football Festival scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The Minister made this appeal during a courtesy visit by Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials to his office. The delegation, led by Domestic Leagues Committee Chairman Dr. Tony Aubynn, presented the prestigious Women’s FA Cup and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League trophies to the Minister.
In his remarks, Hon. Adams commended the GFA for its efforts in raising the profile of the women’s game and encouraged Ghanaians to own and shape the narrative around women’s football.
It’s great to have you here today, and as they say, nobody can tell your story better than yourself. We have to do it our way and bring the love to the women’s game,” the Minister stated.
He also acknowledged the increasing impact of female athletes across sporting disciplines and emphasised the need for equal recognition.

“You are right that in recent times, women have done more on their own than men—not just in football, but even in many other sports ecosystems,” he noted.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting women in sports, Hon. Adams assured that the necessary infrastructure, visibility, and promotion will be provided to ensure they thrive.
“The government is committed to ensuring women get the maximum support they need to reach their full potential and bring glory to the country,” he affirmed.
He concluded by urging the public to attend the upcoming Women’s Football Festival, which will feature a double-header: the Women’s FA Cup final between Jojina Ladies and Faith Ladies at 3:00 PM, followed by the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League final between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Police Ladies at 6:00 PM.
