King Faisal Football Club has taken legal action against the Ghana Football Association (GFA), filing a challenge at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, over the legitimacy of the association’s alleged Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on August 12, 2025.

The Kumasi-based club, represented by Evans Adika Law, contends that the AGM and the resolution purportedly passed during the meeting are invalid due to what it describes as “significant governance and procedural irregularities.”

According to the filing, King Faisal argues that the GFA’s failure to deposit the Normalization Statute with the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) after the tenure of the FIFA Normalization Committee (August 2018 to October 2019) has been the root cause of several procedural breaches.

Legal Grounds

The club is basing its challenge on five key legal grounds:

1. Abridged notice period without unanimous consent of members.

2. Undisclosed real and potential conflicts of interest involving the AGM chairperson.

3. Improper bundling of issues for voting and incidences of overvoting.

4. Denial of a poll after a show of hands.

5. Undue influence.

Reliefs Sought

King Faisal is requesting several remedies from CAS, including:

1.An injunction preventing the GFA from enforcing the disputed resolution.

2. A declaration that the August 12 AGM and its resolution are null and void.

3.Recusal of the GFA Executive Council from remedial measures.

4.An order for the GFA to amend the Normalization Statute in line with Ghanaian law and register it with the ORC.

5.A directive barring the current GFA President from amending terms of his office while still in power.

6. Costs and any other relief deemed appropriate by CAS.

The club maintains that the move is a vital step toward ensuring accountability and protecting the future of football governance in Ghana.
