Karela United Revive Survival Hopes with Confident Win Over Aduana FC
Karela United delivered a timely and spirited performance to boost their Ghana Premier League survival bid with a 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu on Sunday.
A match-winning brace from forward Alhassan Adamu—scoring in the 13th and 55th minutes—ensured the home side claimed all three points in a must-win encounter. The result sees Karela move to 28 points on the table, a crucial step in their fight against relegation.
Right from kickoff, Karela United displayed intent and aggression, controlling the midfield and applying pressure on the Aduana defence. Their persistence paid off early when Adamu capitalised on a defensive mistake to calmly slot home the opener and lift the crowd.
Aduana FC, continuing their poor away form, were second best for most of the match. The visitors failed to settle into a rhythm, struggling to string together meaningful attacking moves while being pinned back by Karela’s high press.
Ten minutes after the restart, Adamu doubled Karela’s lead with a close-range header, punishing another moment of slack defending by Aduana. The brace marked one of Adamu’s most influential performances this season and put the result beyond doubt.
The win is a huge boost for coach Nurudeen Amadu’s side, who have now pulled themselves just above the drop zone and will look to build momentum in their remaining fixtures.
With a few weeks left in the campaign, Karela’s victory could prove vital in the final shakeup—while Aduana’s form raises serious concerns.
