Kamaldeen Sulemana Grateful for Dream Start at Atalanta
Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has expressed delight over his impressive start to life with Atalanta, admitting he did not anticipate such a strong beginning to his journey in Italy.
The Black Stars forward, who joined Atalanta during the summer transfer window from English side Southampton, has quickly become one of the standout performers in Serie A this season.
Sulemana’s dazzling form earned him Atalanta’s Goal of the Month award, and his statistics speak for themselves — two league goals in seven appearances, coupled with his first senior international goal for Ghana during October’s international break.
Reflecting on his early success, the 23-year-old admitted he expected a slower start given his struggles in England.
“I didn’t think I’d start so well. I wanted to show everyone my worth, especially Atalanta. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to play for this fantastic club. I really like the city of Bergamo. I like the team, I breathe positivity every day. But now I’m no longer a surprise for my opponents, so I’ll have to study new surprises!”
he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Since arriving in Bergamo, Sulemana has grown into a key figure in Ivan Jurić’s tactical setup, earning praise for his pace, creativity, and work rate on the flanks.
He featured once again for Atalanta following his return from national duty, starting in the goalless draw against Lazio on Sunday, October 19, as the 2023 Europa League winners continued their strong league campaign.
