Jordan Ayew Thanks Ghanaians After Victory Over Central African Republic
Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support and patience following Ghana’s emphatic 5–0 triumph over the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday.
The Leicester City forward, who played a pivotal role in the win with a goal and assist, described the result as a sign of the team’s renewed determination to bounce back after the disappointment of missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking to Kobby Stonne on Sports Page 2 on Adom FM, Ayew acknowledged the pain fans endured after the AFCON failure and called for continued unity and belief in the team.
“I want to thank Ghanaians for their support and patience. Not qualifying for the AFCON was a disaster for everyone, so obviously this is the time for us to come back strong. I hope on Sunday they will come to the stadium and celebrate with us,” he said.
Ayew’s leadership on and off the pitch was evident as the Black Stars produced one of their most commanding performances in recent memory, edging closer to the mundial with just a game to go.
Ghana will next host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, where a win will finally book their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
