Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has extended heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians and the entire football community following the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana sealed their place at the global showpiece after a hard-fought 1–0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result that saw them top Group I and secure their fifth consecutive World Cup appearance.

Ayew, who was instrumental throughout the qualifying campaign, produced a standout performance across all matchdays, recording 14 goal involvements — seven goals and seven assists — to guide the Black Stars back onto football’s biggest stage.

The Leicester City forward will now prepare for what will be his third World Cup appearance, having represented Ghana in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.

In a message shared through the Black Stars’ official social media platforms, Ayew expressed deep gratitude to the supporters for their constant encouragement and highlighted the collective effort behind Ghana’s qualification success.

“I don’t usually want to talk about myself because if it is not my teammates that have been pushing me and supporting me, I wouldn’t be able to perform,” Ayew said.
“So, I just want to thank my teammates, the staff, and the federation.”

The 33-year-old also commended the technical team led by Otto Addo for their tactical direction and praised the unity within the squad, describing it as the key to Ghana’s consistency during the campaign.

Ghana’s qualification marks another proud chapter in the nation’s football history, reaffirming their status as one of Africa’s most consistent performers on the global stage.

The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the official draw takes place on December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
