Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed optimism that his side will produce a much-improved display when they face Mali in Monday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana’s 1-1 stalemate with Chad in N’Djamena on Matchday Seven left supporters questioning the team’s performance and consistency. The result momentarily stalled the Black Stars’ momentum in Group I, setting up a must-win encounter against The Eagles.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Addo assured fans that the home environment, coupled with the players’ determination, will make a significant difference.

“I’m very sure we will show another phase in Accra; it’s easier to play at home with our spectators supporting us, pushing the last percentages out of the body of the players to play in the evening on grass. I expect different phase of the players.”

The coach further admitted that lessons had been taken from the setback in Chad and underlined that Ghana’s qualification destiny remains firmly under their control.

“I hope we learned from the mistakes we did against Chad. The good thing is that we still have it in our own hands.“

A victory on Monday would see the Black Stars extend their lead at the top of Group I, moving seven points clear of Mali while restoring their four-point cushion over Comoros, who edged the Central African Republic on Sunday.

With the stakes high, Addo’s men will look to reward the home crowd with a commanding performance under the Accra floodlights.
