Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey has expressed his feelings about not being called up to the Black Stars in recent times, despite his impressive performances for Bulgarian side Ludogorets.

With Tekpetey’s  form, many Ghanaian football enthusiasts have called for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad, citing his ability to bring creativity and attacking flair to the team. However, the player has been ignored in recent times.

The striker, who has consistently delivered for his club in both domestic and European competitions, admitted that being overlooked can be frustrating but acknowledged that the decision ultimately rests with the national team coach.

“Sometimes it hurts because, as a player, you know you are playing your best at the highest level,” Tekpetey said in a recent interview with Asempa FM.

“Sometimes you are tempted to compare the players called to the national team to yourself. However, I feel it is the decision of the coach to call players who he thinks will suit his plan.” He added.

The forward is currently recovering from an injury he picked up in a Champions League qualifying game against Qarabag.  Last season, he scored 15 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions for his club.

He has two caps for the Black Stars.
