Ghanaian international winger Inaki Williams has once again been honoured with the Sporty LaLiga Africa’s Most Valuable Player award, retaining the prestigious title for the 2024/25 season.

The award, presented in Spain, recognises the most impactful African player in LaLiga, and Inaki emerged ahead of strong contenders including Pape Gueye of Villarreal and Enzo Boyomo of Osasuna.

The 30-year-old forward, who has spent his entire professional career with Athletic Bilbao, played a crucial role in his club’s campaign this season, registering six goals and eight assists in 35 league appearances. His consistency, work rate, and influence in the attacking third were instrumental in Bilbao’s performances throughout the season.

Williams first earned the title in the 2023/24 season, and his back-to-back recognition underscores his continued importance and excellence in Spanish football.

Though born in Spain, Inaki Williams switched his nationality to represent Ghana in 2022. Since making his debut for the Black Stars, he has gone on to earn 22 caps, scoring two goals for the national team.

Despite his strong club form, Inaki was not included in Ghana’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Unity Cup in London. Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has opted to use the four-nation tournament, featuring Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, to evaluate a group of emerging talents and fringe players.

Williams’ back-to-back MVP accolade affirms his stature as one of Africa’s elite performers in European football and a key ambassador for Ghanaian excellence on the global stage.
