Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has publicly endorsed midfielder Salim Adams for a potential call-up to the Black Stars, citing the player’s outstanding form in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

Adams, 23, has been one of Medeama’s standout performers this season, scoring five goals in 19 league matches and playing a key role as the Yellow and Mauves chase another league crown. Since joining the Tarkwa-based side at the start of the 2025/26 season, the former New Edubiase United midfielder has established himself as a regular starter under Tanko.

The midfielder’s consistency has sparked growing calls from fans and pundits for his inclusion in the national team setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Tanko believes those calls are justified and expects the player to be on the radar of the Black Stars technical team.

“It’s no secret that Salim is doing well and scoring some fantastic goals. With the Black Stars technical team closely monitoring the league, I’m sure he is going to get his chance into the team,” Tanko said.

Adams is not new to the national team environment, having previously represented Ghana at the U23 level, where he made two appearances and found the net once. His rise began in 2021 following a move to Hearts of Oak, where he gained valuable experience before a loan spell with FC Cincinnati 2 in the United States further broadened his exposure.

With his current form attracting widespread attention, Adams will be keen to maintain his momentum as he pushes for a maiden senior national team invitation. Continued strong performances could strengthen his case as Ghana prepare for the global showpiece in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
