Hohoe United Part Ways with Tijani Bashiru After Five-Month Spell

Hohoe United have brought an early end to Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru’s tenure as head coach, dismissing him just five months after his appointment.

The decision follows a difficult first half of the season that has left the Premier League newcomers entrenched in the relegation zone after 17 matches.

Club officials moved swiftly after Friday’s goalless draw against regional rivals Heart of Lions, a result that ultimately proved to be the final straw.

Bashiru was handed the responsibility of guiding Hohoe United through their maiden Ghana Premier League campaign and securing top-flight survival. However, a string of unconvincing performances and the team’s slide into danger positions raised concerns within the club’s hierarchy.

The stalemate against Heart of Lions, played in the first Volta derby of the season, underlined Hohoe United’s struggles in attack and further dented confidence in the club’s direction under Bashiru.

Hohoe United are expected to announce an interim arrangement as they look to reset their campaign and mount a strong fight for survival in the second round of the season.
