Hearts of Oak forward Mawuli Wayo has issued a heartfelt apology to the club’s supporters following their shock exit from the MTN FA Cup over the weekend.

The Phobians were eliminated in the Round of 16 after suffering a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to lower-tier side Golden Kicks FC, following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Despite dominating the game and creating several scoring opportunities, Hearts of Oak failed to convert their chances, ultimately paying the price in the penalty shootout.

Following the painful exit, Mawuli Wayo took to social media to express his regret and appreciation for the unwavering support of the club’s fans.

“I want to sincerely apologize for our exit from the MTN FA Cup. Losing on penalties is always tough, and I know we fell short of your expectations. Your unwavering support means everything to us, and we share your disappointment. We fought hard, but it wasn’t our day. Thank you for always standing by us. We’ll come back stronger! Much love and respect,” Wayo posted.

With the FA Cup no longer in contention, Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention back to the Ghana Premier League, where they currently sit in 4th place with 33 points, just one point behind the league leaders.
