Hearts of Oak Crowned 2025 Homowo Peace Cup Champions
Accra Hearts of Oak claimed the 2025 Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Cup title after securing a convincing 2-0 victory over Ghana Premier League counterparts Heart of Lions on Sunday, August 17, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The much-anticipated clash lived up to its billing, with both sides setting up strongly and demonstrating their intent from the opening minutes. The game featured a series of end-to-end exchanges as each team pushed to take control.
The breakthrough came in the 36th minute when new signing Frank Duku found the back of the net after being set up beautifully by Ali Mohammed, sending the Phobian fans into jubilation.
Hearts of Oak doubled their advantage just four minutes later, with leading striker Hamza Issah showcasing his trademark pace and strength to fire home a stunning goal that left the Lions’ defense helpless.
Despite Heart of Lions mounting a spirited comeback attempt in the second half, the Phobians’ defense held firm to preserve their clean sheet and seal back-to-back triumphs in the Homowo Peace Cup.
The victory marks Hearts of Oak’s second consecutive success in the annual competition, further boosting their confidence ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Both Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions will now shift focus to the GHALCA Top 4 tournament later this month, as preparations intensify for the new campaign.
