Head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Ibrahim Tanko, says his side is fully prepared to challenge Asante Kotoko in their Week 33 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, with the clear objective of denying the Porcupine Warriors a win in Kumasi.

Medeama SC, currently sixth on the league table, travel to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 1, for a tough encounter against a Kotoko side also fighting to finish the season on a strong note.

Despite their inability to contest for the title this season, Tanko insists his side is determined to end the campaign with a statement performance.

Speaking in a pre-match interview with Medi TV, Coach Tanko revealed that the match presents a significant opportunity for his team to test their readiness and push for their first away points since his appointment.

“The target is to have a very good game in Kumasi. I think this is the first game that is going to be live since I took over, and it’s motivation enough for the players to give their best. So, we are going to Kumasi to take a point or the three points,” Coach Tanko said.

He further stressed the importance of the fixture, indicating that Medeama are approaching the game with confidence and a desire to maintain their recent progress under his leadership.

“We are very prepared for Asante Kotoko. It will be one of the toughest matches, but my team is always improving, and I believe this weekend we will pick up our first away point or three points,” he added.

Sunday’s match will be a key test for both sides, with Kotoko aiming to finish within the top five, while Medeama will be eager to continue their upward trajectory ahead of next season. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
