Hearts of Oak’s struggles continued on Thursday evening as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Nations FC at the Tuba Astroturf, extending their winless run to four matches in the Ghana Premier League.

Forced to relocate from the University of Ghana Stadium due to renovations, the Phobians found it difficult to settle into their new surroundings.

Despite their efforts to control the game, they were undone by a resolute Nations FC side and a brilliant second-half strike from Black Stars defender Razak Simpson.

After a tense and goalless first half, the deadlock was finally broken in the 57th minute. A defensive lapse allowed Razak Simpson to control the ball inside the box before unleashing a powerful volley past the helpless Hearts goalkeeper, sending the home fans into jubilation.

The defeat piles further pressure on coach Aboubakar Ouattara, as Hearts of Oak fall further behind league leaders Asante Kotoko, who now enjoy an eight-point cushion at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Nations FC’s victory propels them back into the top four, reinforcing their strong campaign and ambitions for a high finish in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Hearts of Oak must regroup quickly as they look to end their poor run of form in their next fixture.
