Ghana U20 Star Jerry Afriyie Dismisses Claims of Money-Driven Move to Saudi Arabia

Ghana U20 forward Jerry Afriyie has refuted suggestions that his transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah was motivated by financial gain.

The highly-rated 18-year-old signed for the Saudi Pro League outfit from Ghanaian lower-tier side Thoughts FC but was immediately loaned out to Spanish club CD Lugo for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Afriyie emphasized that his decision was based on career growth rather than financial incentives.

“I’m too young to prioritize money,” he stated. “My mindset and plan is to reach the highest level. A lot of big clubs were interested in me, but I chose where I can go and develop well.”

Having arrived in Spain last week, Afriyie has already begun training with Lugo and could be in contention for his debut against Athletic Bilbao B this weekend.

CD Lugo currently sits 14th in the Primera Federación standings, and the young Ghanaian forward will be hoping to make an immediate impact as he begins his European adventure.
