Ghana Hosting 2025 African Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship Marks Historic Milestone – Jerry Ahmed Shaib
President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has described Ghana’s hosting of the 2025 African Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship as a landmark achievement for the nation’s sporting history.
Speaking to Adom TV, Shaib highlighted the significance of the event, which is being staged in Accra for the very first time.
“Ghana currently hosting the 2025 African Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship is a milestone for the nation. It has never happened. I am hopeful some our athletes can win medals but I have told them to compete and enjoy in order to do it better next time. They need support and encouragement,” Shaib said.
The championship, which began earlier this week in Accra, has brought together young talents from across the continent to compete in various categories. The tournament is scheduled to end on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
