Ghana Drawn in Group C for 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt
Ghana’s U-20 national football team, the Black Satellites, have been placed in Group C of the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following the official draw held in Cairo on Sunday, April 13.
The draw, which took place at CAF’s headquarters in the Egyptian capital, saw Ghana grouped alongside strong contenders Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic in what promises to be one of the most competitive pools of the tournament.
The 2025 edition of the tournament will run from April 27 to May 18 in Egypt, with teams from across the continent vying for the prestigious youth title and a chance to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The Black Satellites, led by head coach Desmond Ofei, resumed camping last week in Accra to step up preparations. The team has lined up several friendly matches in the build-up to the competition to fine-tune tactics and assess squad readiness.
Coach Ofei’s squad is expected to be trimmed in the coming days, with final selections based on performances in the upcoming test matches. The team’s technical bench is focused on building a cohesive unit capable of going deep in the tournament.
Should Ghana advance beyond the group stage, potential quarterfinal opponents could include hosts Egypt, as well as other tournament heavyweights like Morocco, South Africa, and Zambia.
Full Draw for the 2025 CAF U-20 AFCON:

The Black Satellites will be aiming to add to their illustrious history in the competition, having previously won the tournament on four occasions (1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021).
With a rich legacy and a motivated squad, expectations are high as Ghana eyes another continental triumph.
