Ghana Athletics Basic Coaching Course ends in Winneba
The Basic Coaching Course organised by Ghana Athletics in collaboration with the National Sports College has officially ended in Winneba.
The five-day intensive program aimed at equipping participants with foundational coaching skills.
The initiative is a preparatory step for the World Athletics (WA) Level I Coaching Course slated for later in 2025. By providing essential training and knowledge, this course served as a stepping stone for participants aspiring to achieve advanced certification in athletics coaching.
Speaking after the course, Baba Apidogo who is the Director for the Sports Directorate of Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development and a facilitator revealed the course enlightened the participants.
“The participants were enthusiastic. There were things they thought were right but after going through the course, they realized there are things they were not doing. I’m convinced that with them we will get somewhere. If they apply what we have done here, they will produce very good athletes.” He said.
Kezia Elemawusi Gbeze, a participant of the course said “It has been an interesting course and I’m glad I came to participate. Looking at the course outline, I saw the courses to be interesting.”
“As a professional coach, I believe in educating myself so I took it upon myself to come and study to impact into our athletes for the them to become world class” Selorm Fayise also added.
