GFA Reassigns Desmond Ofei to Full-Time Black Stars Role in Technical Restructuring
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a key change in its national team technical setup, reassigning Black Satellites Head Coach Desmond Ofei to focus solely on his duties as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars.
The move is part of a broader strategy by the GFA to enhance the effectiveness of the technical teams across various national squads while avoiding scheduling conflicts that arise from dual roles.
Desmond Ofei, who has been balancing responsibilities between the U20 men’s team (Black Satellites) and the senior national team, will step down from his role with the Satellites following the upcoming WAFU A & B U20 Championships.
According to the GFA, this restructuring is designed to allow Ofei to provide undivided attention and support to Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo as the team intensifies preparations for future international assignments.
In a statement released by the Association, the GFA said:
“Coach Desmond Ofei… will focus exclusively on the Black Stars, after leading the Satellites to the upcoming WAFU A & B U20 Championships.”
The decision is expected to streamline coaching duties and strengthen team-specific mandates, ensuring that each national team benefits from a fully dedicated technical leadership.
