GFA President Kurt Okraku Pledges to Drive African Football Forward After CAF Executive Committee Election

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has vowed to work relentlessly in advancing African football following his election to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Okraku secured his position uncontested, becoming the representative for WAFU Zone B on CAF’s powerful decision-making body for the 2025-2029 term.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the GFA President expressed his gratitude and deep sense of responsibility, pledging to serve with dedication and integrity.

“I am honoured to serve Ghana, WAFU, and CAF, and I pledge to work tirelessly to promote the development of African football and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the game across the continent,” he wrote.

With this election, Okraku joins a select group of individuals responsible for shaping the future of football on the continent. He described the opportunity as both humbling and inspiring, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the trust placed in him.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF),” he added.

Okraku also extended his appreciation to former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and his government for their unwavering support, while also acknowledging the instrumental role played by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams.

He further thanked his colleagues on the GFA Executive Council, the staff of the GFA, and members of WAFU Zones A and B for their support in his journey.

“To the entire football fraternity in Ghana and across Africa—thank you for your continued support, belief, and love for the game. This accomplishment is as much yours as it is mine,” Okraku stated.

As he steps into his new role, Okraku is expected to play a vital part in shaping policies and initiatives that will drive African football forward, reinforcing his reputation as a key figure in the sport’s administration on the continent.
