GFA Fines Aduana FC GHS 10,000 Over Controversial Social Media Post
Aduana FC have been sanctioned by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee after the club was found guilty of misconduct linked to their Ghana Premier League Matchweek 2 encounter with Medeama SC.
The Dormaa-based side has been fined GHS 10,000 after the committee ruled that a post shared on the club’s official social media platforms brought the game into disrepute, breaching the league’s communication and conduct regulations.
The controversial post questioned a late penalty decision awarded to Medeama during the match and read:
“90+2’ – Stoppage-time drama! The referee gives Medeama a penalty, leaving fans shocked — Valentine’s Day gift for the home side!”
Following its review, the Disciplinary Committee determined that the statement was inappropriate and undermined the integrity of the competition.
As part of the ruling, Aduana FC have been instructed to settle the fine within fourteen (14) days after receiving official notice of the decision.
Beyond the monetary penalty, the club has also been issued a formal warning by the GFA, reminding them to exercise professionalism and caution in their public communications, particularly on digital platforms.
The football governing body further indicated that any repeat of similar conduct in the future could result in more severe disciplinary measures.
