GFA Confirms December 16 Start for Mid-Season Transfer Window, Warns Clubs Against Late Submissions
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially set December 16, 2025, as the start of the mid-season transfer window, offering clubs a month-long opportunity to reinforce their squads ahead of the second half of the campaign.
The window will open at 00:01 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and shut at 11:59 p.m. GMT on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Within this period, Premier League, Division One and Women’s Premier League clubs will be able to register new players or complete outgoing transfers.
A statement published on the FA’s website emphasized that both international and domestic transfer systems will be fully operational.
“Both the International Transfer Matching System (ITMS) and Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) will be active throughout this period, enabling clubs to complete player transfers, local and foreign, before the deadline,”
the GFA announced.
The association also issued a clear reminder for clubs to process all transactions strictly within the approved timeframe, stressing the consequences of non-compliance.
“The GFA reminds all clubs to process their transactions through the ITMS/DTMS within the stipulated timeframe. It further cautions that any club failing to meet the minimum squad requirement of 20 approved players will be deactivated.”
In addition, the FA underlined that there will be no extension to the mid-season window, urging clubs to avoid last-minute complications.
“Clubs are kindly reminded to fully comply with the directive and take note as there shall be no extensions to the window,”
the statement added.
The Ghana Premier League is currently in Week 14 and on course to conclude on May 30, 2026, making the upcoming transfer period a crucial opportunity for teams to adjust their squads as the title race and relegation battles intensify.
